Today is a day full of hearts! It is Valentine's Day and here's a mani for the special occasion <3

I recreated IG@ane_li mani that I fell in love with when I saw it. Her mani was just perfect and so cute! I love all her designs and really look up to her! So at first, I was contemplating if I should try it as I was also quite afraid that it'll turn out really bad.

But I mustered courage and finally did it! I was very pleased with the outcome hehe! I used black and white acrylic paint which was really useful as I could just use a cotton bud with water and rub any mistakes away and redo it.

For the pink gradient, I used China Glaze - Something Sweet (light pink) and Sinful Colors - Island Coral (darker pink) with a make up sponge. Then I added a layer of top coat.

Well, let's just say the Valentine's Day fever is on!

I created this mani just for Hobby Polish Blogger (HPB) February Link-Up. Just a background of what HPB is; it is a Facebook group of nail polish bloggers. We share information and ask for tips and advice from one another. As for me, I am a silent member there, letting all the useful information sink into me.

With that, let's move on! The theme is to create a Valentine's Day mani and so I had thought hard about what design I should do. As I have already done a few V-Day related mani, I was a little creative-blocked.

I then started off the inspiration with techniques. So I decided I wanted some water color spotted mani and then hearts came to mind!

So basically, I painted on alternate base colors using OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls and L.A. Colors - 11. Then, I used very watered down pink and white acrylic paints with a small brush.

I drew on hearts one by one and then using another flat dry brush, I used it to suck up the water paint, leaving a heart stain. I then repeat this step over and over again until I am satisfied with the intensity and feel of the design.

I then sealed off with a nice glossy top coat. I think I prefer the white hearts with the pink base, whcih do you guys prefer? Let me know in the comments below :)

Guys, girls, everyone, I couldn't believe that I totally forgot about my Barry M pink nail art pen *cries* I feel so guilty!!

To make up to my negligence, I paired up with Barry M Espresso, a black matte, ONE COATER polish. In light of the upcoming V-Day, I decided to do something related since the pen is in pink color.

I then goolged for Tattoo Ink font as a reference for my letters L-O-V-E.

I then followed the font really closely using the pen. The Barry M Nail Art Pen is really easy to use. However, you do have to take note that when drawing onto the nail, you will have to draw in a stippling motion, otherwise the color does not show off opaque.

I added a layer of G&G HK Girl Top Coat, which is glossy then adding a matte top coat, Essie - Matte About You over the whole design. I have a love-hate relationship with Matte About You. It does it's job with fascinating matte finish, however there are white bits that are left on my design which I find very annoying.
I have tried to clean the bottle neck to prevent the white residue from falling into the top coat itself but to no avail :( What do you guys suggest I do? Should I go grap OPI's matte top coat too or would it be the same? Do let me know in the comments!

On the lovely note of this special occasion, here is a manicure inspired by the V-Day *winks* I present to you this manicure I call 'The King of Your Heart'.

I was inspired by IG@gabbysnailart who did a cards nail art tutorial and that sparked an idea in my ahead. I thought, why not hearts to match the occasion? So here it is!

If you haven't already notice, I drew on an Ace, four and two. Well, if you're fast you'll realise it is 14/2 which is V-Day!! Smart right? HEHE! And of course I couldn't leave out the king so I did a small sketch of the King card but to little avail. It doesn't look nice close up like above, but from afar it looks just right LOL :D

Hi everyone out there~ Coming Friday is Valentine's Day! What would you be doing on that V Day? I'll be just spamming my revision because exams are around the corner >.< STRESS. But to de-stress, I have a hearty mani for you!

I wanted to do something that was easy and not time consuming (again because of exams) and I remembered Sara's many video tutorials that were easy and needed no tools at all! I chose one of the designs, which is an abstract design using just your fingertips! (Here is the video link!) And her videos are really funny and cute at the beginning ^^

Anyway, back to today's mani!

For my left hand, I did the fingerprinting abstract design on all my nails. Then I drew a heart and outlined it with silver. Really love this one!

And as for the right hand, I tried to do a heart shape using the fingerprinting method. I wiped my brush well and drew a little heart on my fingertip and then pressed it on my nails. It's almost like stamping, but your finger is the stamper LOL. For some reason I could only do this once. I tried to do the same for my left hand and just failed horribly despite my 5 tries. That's why my left hearts were hand drawn!
